Sony 5.2 ED “Extended Definition” series speaker set in beautiful cherry.
The set is in excellent to pristine condition with boxes.
Not your average Sony loudspeakers. As the “ED” moniker for Extended Definition suggests, these are truly gems and are very scarce to come by and even more so in this condition.
The sound is very detailed, natural with stunning tonal balance and very very good imaging/soundstage. Low end frequencies are tight and controlled.
Vocals come alive, and listening sessions just feel more intimate on these loudspeakers.
The build quality on them is truly astounding, with no hollow cabinets. The mains “SS-X70ED” weigh in at a very respectable 28kg and are a mere 0.9m tall without their spikes, a testament to the build quality. The bracing on the cabinets is very rigid and solid resulting in a solid structure for all the drivers. The top panel where the tweeter (which is rated at 70kHz!) is located, is solid aluminium and makes for a statement.
Not only do they sound amazing, but they look the part too, and will compliment any sound room with their presence and beauty.
The subwoofers which are dual 10inch drivers at 250watts are very powerful and pack a mighty punch. Fast, controlled and of sealed design they deliver low frequencies that you feel.
The set consists of a pair of SS-X70ED’s, SS-X30ED’s, SS-CNX70ED center and a pair of SA-WX700’s subwoofers.
Very low usage overall but have brought me many joyous listening hours when used.
The set will not be split up. And the speaker stands are not included.
